A Prayer For Our Nation
Almighty Living God of grace and love, Who is righteous and just in every way. As we humble ourselves and seek You, please have mercy on us and forgive our sins and heal our land. Amen!
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” – Ezekiel 36:25-27
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes WILL be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.” – 2 Chor. 7:14-15
What if the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, were to visit your home? How would you prepare for his stay? How would you stand before the Queen of England should she make an appearance in your town? How would you present yourself if you were called to stand in the presence of royalty?
So why then do we prepare so little to stand before the God of all creation, and treat Him as if He should bow to us? Better yet, what gives us the right to command of Him His crown? History has proven we cannot handle being our own god.
Can we honestly say we don’t need Him?
God’s love toward us is immeasurable. He longs to bless us with all the gifts of heaven. If we humbly seek Him and turn from our self-seeking ways we have His promise,
“My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.”
Here we will find what we are longing for – hope, peace, love, and a prosperous future.
Will you pause for a moment to pray for our great nation, America The Beautiful?
